Faculty and Staff Resources

As a faculty or staff at Centennial College you have access to Global Experience Opportunities and Faculty Mobility Opportunities.

Global Experience Opportunities

These are mostly internationally-based experiential-learning programs that as a faculty or staff you can either Lead or Co-Lead and develop to align with the Academic outcomes associated with your course or program. Our Global Experience Team partners with interested faculty to support them in developing these programs and in preparing them* for the enhanced duty of care overnight travel programs require.

The range of Faculty-Lead Global Experiences that we support are not limited to:
  • Faculty-Led International Programs
  • Applied Research Abroad Programs
  • COIL - Virtual Exchange
  • Conference & Competitions (students and faculty attend together)
  • Programs that celebrate Indigenous Perspectives
  • Establishing Outbound Exchanges (not Faculty- led but often Faculty lead design)

All Faculty-Led Global Experiences must be approved by the relevant Program's Chair and proposed via our Global Experiences Proposal process. See "Propose a Global Experience" on this site for more info.

Faculty Mobility Opportunities

These are experiences where faculty are travelling (without students) for the college for purposes related to Global Experiences. These can include and are not limited to:
  • Scouting Trips - to develop global programs
  • Conferences or Competitions with or at our partner institutions.
  • Engaging in guest lecturing or collaborative research for the college that support GE interests.
These differ from regular travel opportunities the college and your department might support for professional development. Global Experience often will advertise these options to relevant programs and faculty will then be invited to apply for the experience via this site before they are selected.

All Faculty Mobility or Global Experience Programs must be approved by your Chair before making a proposal or completing an application.

All Employee Travel must be logged in via the Employee Travel Registry

Note:
The roles and responsibilities of each program are unique and will be conveyed in mandatory pre-departure training for leads and co-leads, in policy documents outlined by the college, via waivers signed by each participant and at multiple steps during the program building process. All leads are well supported throughout the program and Global Experiences provides an enhanced risk and safety scaffhold and support frame for all programs that aligns with institutional best practices.
